Planning a wedding can be an exciting and joyous experience, but it can also be stressful and expensive. With so many details to consider, it's easy to overspend and blow your budget. However, with a little bit of planning and creativity, you can have the wedding of your dreams without breaking the bank. Here are some wedding budget tips to help you save money and still have the wedding you have always dreamed about.
1. Set a realistic budget.
Before you start planning, sit down with your partner and decide on a budget that you can afford. Be realistic about what you can spend and prioritize the most important aspects of your wedding. Then breakdown that budget into as many categories as you can. Once you have your ideal AND realistic wedding budget, then you can start to decide where to cut corners if needed.
2. Choose an off-peak season.
April-October is THE Wedding PEAK! Consider getting married during the off-peak season when vendors and venues are less expensive. This can save you a significant amount of money. You can also get married on any other day that isn't Saturday. When I got married back in 2017, and I started planning out our wedding date I honestly had no idea that it was an option to get married on a day other than Saturday! Friday and Sunday options are often way cheaper! Some venues will even open their doors on Monday-Thursday for an even cheaper rate!
3. DIY where possible.

In an age where you can find just about any "how-to" online, this is your budget saver! DIY THE CRAP OUT OF YOUR DAY! Consider making your own centerpieces and/or wedding favors. This can save you a ton of money, but it also adds a sweet personal touch to your day. I had a bride DIY her cake holder and centerpieces using a dollar store hula hoop, fake flowers, spray paint, and some wood blocks. Y'all when I tell you how incredible her centerpieces were, I mean it. The guests were raving about them during the entire cocktail hour! Check it out for yourself! You will be surprised with all of the things you can make with some simple research and "how-to" videos.
4. Be flexible with your venue.
Consider having your wedding at a non-traditional venue, such as a park or even a friend's backyard. This can save you so much money on venue fees and allow you to spend more on aspects of the wedding that are the most important like photography and food.
5. Size down.
This is probably the easiest way to save money on your wedding. When you sit down and look at your guest list, do you really need to invite Aunt Barbara's second husband twice removed? Simple is best. The guest list can quickly get out of control, so getting ahold of exactly who you want to invite and keeping that list to a minimum will help you tremendously.
